When you book our guide or a tour with us you signify that you accept our terms and conditions. You are confirming that you have read, understood and agree with this section.
Travel Insurance - Empire will take good care of you, however, there is always the unknown. It is a condition of every tour that each member of your party has current and up to date travel insurance. Please carry the certificate with you and note the UK Call centre phone number. In the very unlikely event of an individual on one of our tours having a fatal incident, we accept no responsibility or liability for the repatriation of the deceased or their belongings back to the UK.
Passport - You will need a current Passport otherwise you cannot travel.
EHIC Card - The EHIC card was free from the gov.uk website. This card entitled you to state healthcare in the European Economic Area EEA at a reduced cost or sometimes for free. If you have an EHIC card already and it has not expired, should you need it whilst travelling, it will still he honoured in Europe. However the EHIC has now been replaced by the GHIC, Global Health Insurance Card, again available free on the gov.uk website. Please obtain one prior to touring and carry it with you at all times. The EHIC or GHIC card does not replace valid and current travel insurance, it works alongside your travel insurance which you will need to tour with us.
Battlefields - By their very nature they are still very dangerous places. Ordnance, bombs, bullets and grenades come to the surface all the time. Those items can still be very dangerous. Please do not pick up or collect any items from the battlefield. The terrain can also be a hazard, shell holes, bunkers and trench systems can all be hazardous leading to slips, trips and injury. Your guide will always attempt to lead you in a safe way. Yet you still have a personal responsibility to move about safely at all times. Your guide is First Aid trained and will carry a basic First Aid Kit. Difficulty level matrix - Each Site / location mentioned in the Tours section has DL and a number after it. The DL number is the Difficulty Level. Please read the explanation of difficulty levels below. They explain what physical effort would be required by measure of your ability to visit the battlefield sites. It also gives an idea of the terrain you may encounter. Difficulty levels - (DL 1, 2 or 3) 1 - Moderate walking - some steps and undulating pathways - distance up to 1.5km. 2 - Intermediate walking - some steep steps and pathways, possibly trench systems or bunkers to negotiate - possibly no toilets on site - distance up to 2km. 3 - Advanced walking - steep steps and pathways, trench and bunker systems - not much cover from the weather - no toilets - distance up to 4km.
