We have been guiding on the Battlefields of Europe since 2016 and have so far delivered the Battlefield experience for over 450 battlefield explorers.

How does Empire work -
We do not own a vehicle capable of taking groups to the battlefields, so your guide will accompany you in your vehicle throughout the tour. If you or your Group or Association are considering organising a battlefield tour for the 2024 /2025 season please bear that in mind.
Please contact us to book your guide. Once booked, your guide will then offer help and advice on how to make your tour a success. This could be for such groups as Cadet Forces, Serving Military for Force Development (Staff Rides), Military Veteran Groups, Regimental Associations, Emergency Services or Coach or Minibus Tours.
We also provide guiding for the smaller pilgrimage tours to the battlefields for family groups.

So what is the cost of hiring your Guide?
The cost of hiring your guide to accompany your group to the battlefields is £150.00 per day or part thereof.
Plus B&B for your guide in the hotel of your choice.

Listed within the pages of the World War One and World War Two tours are suggested Itineraries, these can be tailored to include a pilgrimage to a graveside or memorial if requested in advance.

Reminder - Remember to inform Empire in advance if you or your group wish to visit the grave or memorial of a loved one, distant relative or Unit and we will research the battle area or individual action which resulted in the loss and try to dovetail a visit to that location into the tour. We will ask for as much detail as you have on any family history, actions, awards, cemeteries, memorials or individuals which will help us research the history for you.
Tip - Don't leave it too late or your guide may be engaged or booked on another tour.
Empire Battlefield Tours will send a booking confirmation / Invoice email when you book your guide.
A 10% deposit will be requested at the time of booking with the remainder of the fee payable within 5 working days of the return to the UK.

What we promise -
- To join you or your group at a pre-arranged point in the UK. (parking needed for guides vehicle for the duration of the tour).
- To guide you safely during the transit and crossing on either the Eurotunnel or Ferry to the Continent.
- Recommend restaurants for evening meals.
- Advise you on Motorway Tolls so you can build that into your costings.
- Advise you on the best Museums to visit to enhance your tour, so you can select which to visit, so you can build that into your costings.
- Provide you with a first class touring experience, which will include all reference material and research, maps and prepared narratives.
- Visit every location as agreed in the itinerary forwarded to you before the tour gets underway.(subject to availability or the weather). (Empire Battlefield Tours accepts no liability should a location be closed for whatever reason beyond the control of the tour guide. Your guide will attempt to find an alternative location to the one agreed subject to availability).
- Look after you in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere.
- Advise on a Hotel or Gites B&B in the battlefield area - min 2/3 star B&B. (a single room would be required for the guide unless agreed as in the case of hostel accommodation for cadet forces).
- Advise on the Ferry or Channel Tunnel Crossing.
- Arranging your own Travel Insurance (certificate to be carried on tour).
- Obtaining an EHIC Card for reciprocal health care rights in Europe. (card to be carried on tour). (You can now apply for a GHIC (Global Health Insurance Card) (still free on the gov.uk website).
- Making sure that your group musters at the joining point at the agreed time.
- Making sure your passport is in date for the duration of the tour and for 3 months after your return date, and carried with you.
- Hotel or Hostel accommodation booked in the area to be visited minimum 2/3 star with breakfast and guides room paid for.
- To Pay the entry fees for the Museums you have selected to visit.
- To Pay the Motorway Toll fees on the Continent and the Dartford Crossing.
- Booking and paying for the Channel Crossing.
